Where to Start When Booking a photo session?

Some people LOVE having their photo taken & have booked so many sessions, they know the drill. But what if you’ve never booked a photo session before? Don’t worry, it’s easier than you may think!

First and foremost, I recommend looking through different photographers portfolios. You clearly already have some kind of vision for your session or you wouldn’t be wondering how to book! Photographers are artists, so styles will vary. Take a look at a few different portfolios to see which style resonates with you the most.

From here, the next step would be reaching out to the photographer to discuss your project, and to see if they’re available on your preferred date (most of us work days, evenings & weekends so we can be flexible to your life & work schedule, but this will vary by photographer).

Once these 2 steps are under wraps, the rest is even easier! We’ll discuss what packages & payment options work best for you. You will receive an invoice with all the session details, and once the retainer has been paid, you are officially booked in! (I personally will NOT hold any dates without a retainer)

Told you it’s easier than you think!

  • *I offer many different types of packages. They range in price based on the amount of time of the session, the amount of photos you will receive, if you’d like to add any “A la carte options”, or if fuel charges apply.

*Feel free to contact me about your project & I’d be happy to provide you with a quote!

  • *Location is very important to some, and the least important to others. If you have a place with special meaning to you that you want to use for your session, I am all for it!

*If you’re not sure about where you’d like your session to take place, I do offer complimentary location scouting for any session in & around the Brandon area. I’ll ask you a few questions to get a better understanding of your vision, and from there I’ll go scout possible locations & discuss which options would be best based on weather, lighting etc.

  • *Professional hair & makeup services are an option for any photo session, big or small! Prices will vary by the hair style, if you’d like lashes, and of course by the makeup artist. (Some boudoir packages do include the hair & makeup pricing).

*I work with 4 different hair & makeup artists to ensure there is enough flexibility for someone to be available for you on your session day!

  • *I do offer consultations however there is a $40.00 holding fee, which will be refunded in full upon your arrival to the consultation. This applies for ALL consultations whether in person, phone call, or zoom.

*Weddings are the only time I will not charge a holding fee, and you have unlimited consultations to ensure your wedding planning is running smoothly!*

  • *I do have a “client closet” which consists of prom / ballgown style dresses, maternity dresses, pinup dresses, fur & faux fur shawls / cloaks to toddler & newborn outfits.

*These are typically an a la carte option, unless otherwise stated in the package & pricing booklet & come in many different styles, sizes & colours.

*All “client closet” fittings are free of charge with any session booked.

  • *Photo albums come in two different sizes (8x8” or 11x8.5”) and are not included in the package price, but as an a la carte option.

*Payment plans are available for sessions & photo albums. How this works is 50% of the total session cost must be paid up front, and the remaining 50% of the session cost will be broken down into a payment plan. These can be weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly payments.

*All payment plans must be paid in full by the date of the session.
